Thursday Challenge - Experimental
Missouri Capitol HDR
I saw some HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos which interested me. I have to admit I don't really understand it all, but I found Qtpsfgui, an open source tool for creating the HDR images and what you see is the first result from my experimental phase with the application. It doesn't seem to be the most intuitive and has locked up some, but still kind of cool.
I'm sure I'll be posting some more of the results at some point in the future.
Yes, in a way it is cool! I also want to do some HDR experiments.Thanks for giving the link for Qtpsfgui here!

@Vikram: Great to hear. It is not the settings I have used on this one, but after playing with it a bit I have found on the tone mapping that I like following Fattal settings: Alpha 1.731 Beta 0.800 Color Saturation 1.50 and Noise Reduction 0.020. That is not to say that I won't find some I like better with more play time.
Very cool, Bonj. I'm particularly drawn to the Latin inscription and then my eye travels up to the dome with all of its architectural detail. I'd say it certainly qualifies as "experimental."

@Ron: Thanks. One could spend a lot of time walking around the Capitol and not be able to take in all of the architectural details that it holds.
I like it!

@Anita: Thanks Anita.
I like it. Experiementing is only the beginning. I like the selective coloring of the blue door and gold base of statue. HDR intrigues me. Depending on the subject in the photo some are over done while others have great impact being over done. Sometimes just a little works best. Thanks for the link I will look more into it. Keep up the good work.

@kimberly Cook: bigpawgraphics.com: Thanks. The dollar on 3/21 is an HDR as well. I have a series of 5 that will display starting June 7th and a couple of more a couple of weeks later. Several are of old houses that the city has been demolishing. I think they turned out kind of neat.
